Freestore Foodbank

The Freestore Foodbank is a non-profit organization that serves more than 300,000 people annually in 20 counties across Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana with the help of more than 275 member agencies. Those agencies include food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, childcare/eldercare centers, community centers, and residential programs. The Freestore Foodbank solicits, warehouses, and distributes more than 18 million pounds of donated food and groceries annually, equaling more than 16 million meals.

Using food to start a conversation, the Freestore Foodbank connects its clients to the many necessary resources offered at their Liberty Street location, including emergency rent assistance, direct rent/utilities program, protective payee program, transportation assistance, emergency clothing, holiday food basket distribution, and a homeless outreach program.

Cincinnati Friends Meeting supports the Freestore Foodbank by collecting non-perishable food and personal care items at our meetinghouse. (A plastic tub for contributions is located in the Fireside Room.) Although we collect these donations throughout the year, we put special emphasis on doing so on the second and fourth Sundays of each month. On these day, we give particular thought to the hungry in our community.
