There Once Was a Quaker from Kent…

Laughter, they say, is the best medicine. And during this time of pandemic, we need all the chuckles we can get!

The original versions of these limericks appeared on the Association of Bad Friends Facebook page, a Quaker humor site moderated by Brent Bill, author of Life Lessons from a Bad Quaker: A Humble Stumble Toward Simplicity and Grace.

There once was a Quaker from Kent
On whose iPhone his gaze was intent.
He spent his time tweeting
Through one business meeting
And that was the last time he went!

There was a young Quaker from Bude
Whose words were flamboyantly crude.
An Elder said, "Friend,
This must come to an end."
Now he's simply and quite plainly rude.

A Quaker from north of the border
Practiced music upon her recorder.
The tones were all right
But the tunes were a fright
For the notes were not played in good order.

There once was a Quaker named Wright
Who gave his Zoom Meeting a fright.
Something was seen
On his part of the screen
That should never be held in the Light!
